i joined the army because I've always wanted to help out my country, ever since I was a little boy I loved helping others. It also will teach me good responsibility. Since I've been here there is one thing thing that i do know, and that is that we are going to beat Germany! Oh I can't wait til we beat them, because it will be one of the best days ever. Germany is going down!

Christmas!
well i spent Christmas with the troops, we were to far away from home to go back, so we had to spend it together. We tried to make the most of it, but actually it was nice. My mom sent us a huge meal for us since she knows we don't have much to eat. All of us got presents from our families to, I got a pair of boots and my dads metal he won in the war he was in. I wear it under my uniform everyday. Later We all made a fire and sat around it singing Christmas carols. It was the best day we had had since we were at home. Oh another thing i got was a picture of my family, my mom, dad, and little brother josh. I will never forget that day!

Today we searched for food, as we always do. there is never any home cooked meals like there was back home. We have to eat anything we can find. Such as vegetables we find growing where we are camped out at and things like that. it gets very cold at night to none of us really have any blankets, just a small sheet. At times like this i wish i were back home, but I chose to fight for my country and that I am going to do.

I really miss my family. My mom, I think about her all the time. Before I left she said "don't let me down, but no matter what i will always be proud of you." That, that right there helps me through each and everyday i go out to fight. No matter how bad it gets. It reminds me to never give up.

Here the water isn't clean, I'm afraid to drink it but I know I have to. we put our battle plan into action, today we started making the trenches. I fell into one, it caused me to sprang my ankle. My partners made me a brace out of cloth and cotton to keep it protected. The nurse got really sick on the way up. I feel so bad for her but I guess there really isn't anything i can do.

It is so scary out there on the front line. I stand there shooting our cannons and they are shooting bullets at us that go like 10 m/h. Imagine that coming towards you, it's not fun. Austria-Hungary got new weapons, they're machine guns! I managed to not get hit but i was dodging them. Johnathan got shot in his arm. He's going to be ok but he is in a lot of pain.
